The New York State Senate voted to reconsider passage of S1144, an act to amend the Banking and Penal Law, during a brief floor session. Sen. Gianaris moved to reconsider the bill, which had previously been passed, and the motion carried on a 63-0 roll call vote. The bill was restored to the Third Reading Calendar. Sen. Gianaris subsequently offered amendments to the legislation, which were received by the chamber. The bill will retain its place on the Third Reading Calendar pending further action. The Senate adjourned until Monday, March 20th.

The New York State Senate passed Senate Print 1144, sponsored by Senator Sanders, which amends the Banking Law and the Penal Law. The bill received 46 votes in favor and 16 votes in opposition. Voting against the measure were Senators Ashby, Borrello, Gallivan, Griffo, Helming, Lanza, Mattera, Murray, Oberacker, Ortt, Palumbo, Rolison, Stec, Tedisco, Walczyk and Weik. The legislation will take effect 30 days after becoming law.
