The New York State Senate passed a Labor Law amendment sponsored by Sen. Gounardes on a roll call vote of 44-17. The bill, designated as Calendar Number 699 and Senate Print 99A, will take effect 60 days after becoming law. The measure drew opposition from 17 senators, primarily from the Republican conference, including Sens. Ashby, Borrello, Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick, Gallivan, Helming, Lanza, Martins, Murray, Oberacker, O'Mara, Ortt, Palumbo, Rhoads, Stec, Tedisco, Weber and Weik. No floor debate was recorded on the measure prior to the vote.
